This Privacy Policy describes how GENSAN.WORK ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the GENSAN.WORK mobile application and related services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: your mobile phone number, full name, and (optionally) profile photo.
- Worker profile (workers only): display name, headline, bio, barangay, city, years of experience, service categories and rates, portfolio photos, and certifications.
- Verification (workers only): if you submit for verification, we collect a photo of a valid ID and a selfie holding that ID. These are stored privately and visible only to admins/moderators.
- Messages and reviews: the content of messages you send to other users and reviews you post.
- Posts and comments: any content you create in the SkillFeed (text, images, location tags).
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Location: with your permission, we use your device's location to power "Near me" search and to display your service-area pin on a map. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- Device info: for security, fraud detection, and basic analytics we collect device model, operating system, app version, and approximate IP-based location.
- Last seen timestamp: we record when you were last active to help with conversation read receipts.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the core service: profile display, search, messaging, reviews, notifications.
- Verify your identity (when you submit for the verified badge).
- Improve the platform — debug crashes, fix bugs, and prioritize new features.
- Send in-app and push notifications (likes, follows, comments, mentions, verification status, messages).
- Enforce our Terms of Service — including suspending accounts that violate the rules.
- Comply with applicable Philippine law.
3. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third parties to operate the Platform. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — database, authentication, storage, realtime, notifications backend.
- Google Maps / Google Places — map rendering and place search inside the app.
- Mapbox — fallback geocoding for place search.
- Expo / Expo Push Notifications — push notification delivery.
- Semaphore (SMS provider, planned) — OTP delivery for phone-number sign-in.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
4. Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (currently hosted in Singapore for low latency to the Philippines). Row-level security (RLS) policies enforce that you can only access your own private data; verification documents are accessible only to platform moderators reviewing your application.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no internet service is 100% secure. Use strong, unique credentials and notify us immediately at support@gensan.work if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
5. Who Can See Your Information
- Worker profile (display name, headline, bio, photo, ratings, portfolio, location pin) — visible to all signed-in users.
- Verification documents (ID photo, selfie) — visible only to platform admins/moderators.
- Your phone number — visible only to you and admins, never to other users.
- Direct messages — visible only to you and the other participant (and to admins if reported).
- Suspended accounts — hidden from public Discover; visible only to admins.
6. Your Rights
- Access & update: view or change your profile at any time from the Account tab in the app.
- Delete your account: email support@gensan.work with the subject "Delete my account" from the email or phone associated with your account. We will permanently delete your profile, posts, messages, and uploaded media within 30 days. Reviews you posted about other workers may remain anonymized to protect the integrity of others' ratings.
- Withdraw consent: turn off Location and Push Notifications in your device settings any time.
- Data Privacy Act of 2012 (PH RA 10173): as a Philippine resident, you have rights of access, correction, deletion, and to file complaints with the National Privacy Commission.
7. Children
GENSAN.WORK is not intended for users under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please email support@gensan.work and we will remove the account.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
